“Among the dangers of a rise above 2C identified in the report are:
- Water shortages for between one and four billion people
- The Amazon rainforest passing a ‘tipping point’ which could see it transformed into impoverished grassland within 50 to 100 years.
- A 4C (7.2F) Â temperature rise could expose a further 80 million people to malaria in Africa, while 5C (9F) could melt large glaciers in the Himalayas, affecting a quarter of China’s population and millions of people elsewhere in Asia…
