The U.S. And Europe are becoming dependent for their food supplies on unreliable countries like Russia, Saudia Arabia, Venezuela and Iran, just as surely as if the food were grown in those countries. Without imported oil and natural gas, farming and the food industry in the West cannot now function. Worse still, these supplies are finite. By 2025 there will be about 8 billion people on earth food production is coming under extreme pressure for the following reasons, which we will bring news on:

  • peak oil

  • security of energy supply

  • climate change

  • loss of crop land

  • China and the East moving up the food chain

  • competition for land for biofuel production

  • collapse of fisheries
